How to use a voice changer in Fortnite
Fortnite is one of the best games for voice changers because it relies entirely on proximity and squad voice chat. Whether you want to disguise your voice in random fills, create a memorable character, or just make your friends laugh, setting up a voice changer takes under two minutes.
The key to using a voice changer in Fortnite is a virtual audio cable. This is a small piece of software that creates a virtual microphone on your computer. Your voice changer outputs transformed audio to this virtual mic, and Fortnite picks it up as if it were a real microphone. On Windows, the standard choice is VB-Cable (free). On macOS, use BlackHole.
Step 1: Download and install Echo from voicechanger.live/download. The installer handles everything — no Python, no command line, no manual configuration. Launch the app and it will automatically detect your microphone and set up the virtual audio cable.
Step 2: Choose a voice. For Fortnite, the most popular choices are the Deep Male voice (sounds like a completely different person — great for anonymous squad fills), the Anime Girl voice (extremely popular for trolling and comedy), and the Chipmunk voice (classic, instantly recognizable). All voices use AI-powered RVC technology, which means they sound like real people — not the robotic pitch-shifted effects you get from traditional voice changers.
Step 3: Open Fortnite and go to Settings → Audio. Under Voice Chat Input Device, select the virtual audio cable (usually called "CABLE Input" on Windows or "BlackHole" on macOS). Make sure Voice Chat is enabled and the Voice Chat Method is set to "Open Mic" or your preferred push-to-talk key.
Step 4: Join a match and start talking. Your voice will be transformed in real-time. The latency is low enough that callouts and team communication work perfectly — your teammates will not notice any delay.
Pro tips for Fortnite: Enable the noise gate in Echo to eliminate keyboard and mouse clicks during intense build fights. If you are streaming, keep the monitor (Hear Myself) enabled so you can hear what your audience hears. Switch between voices mid-game for comedy — the app supports instant voice switching with zero audio gaps.
Important: Voice changers are allowed in Fortnite. Epic Games does not restrict voice modification software because it does not provide any competitive advantage — it only changes how you sound, not what you can do in the game. Use it responsibly and have fun.
