How to set up a voice changer for Discord

Discord is the most popular platform for voice chat, and setting up a voice changer is surprisingly simple. This guide walks you through the entire process in under 60 seconds.

Step 1: Download and install Echo from voicechanger.live/download. The installer takes about 30 seconds and requires no special configuration.

Step 2: Launch Echo and select your physical microphone as the input device. The app will create a virtual audio device called "Echo" that acts as your transformed output.

Step 3: Open Discord and go to Settings → Voice & Video. Under "Input Device," select "Echo" from the dropdown. This routes your transformed voice into Discord.

Step 4: Choose a voice model in Echo Live and start talking. Your voice will be transformed in real-time — fast enough that nobody will notice any delay.

Pro tip: Enable the noise gate in Echo to eliminate background noise before it reaches Discord. This produces cleaner audio than Discord's built-in noise suppression because the AI can distinguish your voice from ambient sound more accurately.

If you experience any issues, check that Discord's "Input Sensitivity" is not set too high, and disable Discord's built-in "Noise Reduction" to avoid double-processing your audio.
